Planning: The decision to ban the import of some electrical appliances includes all global manufacturers.
The Ministry of Planning confirmed on Friday that it will ban the entry of non-compliant electrical appliances into the Iraqi market. The Ministry of Planning stated that the decision aims to protect consumers and ensure the circulation of high-quality products in the market.
Ministry of Planning spokesperson Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi said, "Electrical appliances will not enter the Iraqi market unless they bear the quality mark and meet the required specifications," noting that "the decision includes appliances from all international origins without exception."
Al-Hindawi explained that "the decision is not limited to a specific category of appliances, but rather includes all electrical goods," noting that "the goal of this measure is to preserve the health and safety of consumers by ensuring the availability of high-quality products."
He explained that "the decision will not affect local products, but rather contributes to strengthening consumer confidence in goods traded in the Iraqi market."
Previously, the Ministry of Planning announced the implementation of strict measures to control the quality of imported electrical appliances, ensuring the ban on the entry of any product that does not bear the Iraqi quality barcode. These appliances include heaters, air conditioners, refrigerators, and ovens, and require them to obtain a compliance certificate from an accredited authority in the country of origin before shipping.
