Al-Sudani and Putin agree to postpone the Arab-Russian summit due to developments in Gaza.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, during which they discussed bilateral relations and arrangements for the first Arab-Russian summit.

The call saw an agreement to postpone the summit, which was scheduled for October 15, to a later date.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office explained that the postponement came "in light of regional and international political activity related to halting the aggression on Gaza."

The two sides also mutually confirmed that the Russian and Iraqi sides "will convey information about the summit's postponement to the capitals of Arab countries through diplomatic channels."

Al-Sudani affirmed to the Russian President "Iraq's support for all stability efforts in the region, strategic communication between Arab countries and the Russian Federation, and all available opportunities for cooperation to confront regional and global challenges."

The Prime Minister emphasized that Iraq "is working to make the Arab-Russian summit a platform for strengthening international partnerships, advancing the national development process of Arab countries, and supporting integration in the fields of economy, energy, investment, and other vital sectors."
