Three Qatari diplomats killed and two others injured in a traffic accident in Egypt.
Three Qatari diplomats were killed and two others injured in a traffic accident on Sunday near the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, according to the Gulf emirate's embassy in Cairo.

Diplomats from several countries have flocked to the Red Sea coastal city in recent days to participate in negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages.

The Cairo News Channel, which is close to the Egyptian government, reported that five Qataris were in the car that was involved in the accident after its Egyptian driver lost control.

The Qatari embassy in Egypt expressed its "deep sorrow and grief over the death of three members of the Amiri Diwan in a tragic traffic accident in Sharm el-Sheikh while they were performing their duties."

It added, "The deceased and injured will be transferred to Doha on a Qatari plane today," noting that the injured are "currently receiving the necessary medical care at Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital."
