Traffic announces the imminent activation of direct electronic payment of fines and the establishment of kiosks for their collection.
The General Traffic Directorate announced on Wednesday a 40% decrease in traffic accident rates. It also revealed the establishment of dedicated kiosks for collecting fines on both sides of Karkh and Rusafa, confirming the imminent implementation of a direct electronic payment service for fines.

The Director of the Directorate's Media Division, Colonel Haider Shaker, stated that "the number of traffic accidents has decreased by between 30 and 40 percent," noting that "this was tested during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), where far fewer accidents were recorded compared to previous years."

He added that "this decrease is a result of the Directorate's use of modern technologies, as well as citizens' adherence to traffic regulations and laws." He noted that "the primary goal is not to impose fines, but rather to ensure the safety of drivers and the safe and proper use of vehicles."

Shaker explained that "the Directorate has begun implementing an electronic system based on smart cameras and radars, in addition to a modern vehicle registration system." He noted that "the Eye of Iraq application enables citizens to view their fines immediately after receiving an electronic notification of the violation."

He explained that "the application includes all fines recorded through smart systems and sends notifications including the type, date, and location of the violation, directing drivers to visit the Directorate or one of its specialized departments."

He pointed out that "the Directorate has recently added kiosks dedicated to collecting fines, four on the Rusafa side and several on the Karkh side, allowing citizens to pay fines within a unified system linked to the central computer." He confirmed that "the direct electronic payment service will be activated soon to facilitate procedures for citizens."
