The Broadway Actors Guild said theater actors have reached a tentative agreement to avert a strike that would have halted 32 shows as peak attendance approaches.
The union, which represents more than 51,000 actors and stage managers, announced it had reached a preliminary three-year agreement with the Broadway Theatrical Association, the trade association representing theater owners, producers, and operators.
However, producers have not yet reached an agreement with the American Guild of Musicians Local 802, which represents Broadway musicians, leaving the possibility of a union strike alive. The actors' union expressed its full support for the musicians' union in its efforts to reach an agreement.
