Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao announced on Friday that China intends to achieve "balanced growth" in imports and exports and encourage domestic investment during its next five-year plan for 2026-2030.

Commenting on the Communist Party Central Committee's approval of proposals for the next five-year plan during meetings of senior officials that ran from Monday to Thursday, the minister told reporters: "We must encourage balanced growth in imports and exports," stressing that "efforts must be made to increase imports and meet the needs of industrial transformation as well as the needs of the population for a better life."

Many of China's trading partners consistently denounce its unequal trade relations, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

They also denounce the obstacles facing investors in China, such as restrictions on access to the Chinese market, regulations, intellectual property rights, and data protection.

"We must improve China's investment image and create new incentives to attract foreign investment, simultaneously allowing market access and issuing operating licenses, and creating a transparent, stable, and predictable business environment," the minister said.
