Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis announced the launch of direct flights between Baghdad and Athens starting next December.

Speaking at a press conference with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, in Baghdad, the minister stated that "Iraq is an important partner for Greece," emphasizing Greece's unwavering commitment to cooperation with Baghdad in various fields. Gerapetritis added, "I am honored to be in one of the most culturally significant countries today." He explained that his visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Greece and facilitate travel, trade, and tourism between the two countries.
