The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented today, Saturday, on the Security Council vote on the Moroccan autonomy plan for Western Sahara.

In a statement, the Ministry said it "welcomes the vote by the UN Security Council on the resolution supporting the autonomy plan for Western Sahara submitted by the Kingdom of Morocco, and the diplomatic efforts that contributed to reaching the understandings that led to the adoption of the resolution, which renewed its support for the political process based on this initiative, as a realistic and constructive framework that can contribute to a peaceful and lasting settlement of this conflict."

The Ministry affirmed its "support for UN efforts aimed at reaching a realistic, lasting, and mutually acceptable political solution that ends this conflict in accordance with international law, guarantees security and stability in the region, and strengthens constructive regional cooperation among all parties."
