Trump is upset that Europe continues to buy Russian oil.
US President Donald Trump expressed his displeasure with European Union countries' continued purchase of Russian oil, despite his good relations with European leaders.

This came during his meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at the White House, where Trump said: "They are all my friends. I think the leaders in Europe are my friends. We get along very well, and they do everything I've asked them to do with respect to NATO and so on. The one thing they keep doing is buying oil from Russia, and that's not very good."

It is worth noting that Trump has tightened sanctions on Russian oil giants and is demanding that EU countries forgo cheap Russian energy resources and switch to American ones, which are proving too costly for the European economy. The US president has employed a policy of raising tariffs on imports from the continent, which has accelerated the response of European leaders to the demands of the US administration, as they have begun developing plans to completely eliminate their reliance on Russian energy resources within the next few years.

On the other hand, during his meeting with the Hungarian Prime Minister, Trump confirmed that he is considering exempting Budapest from the sanctions on Russian oil, given Hungary's unique geographical position.
