Protests continued in major Iranian cities on Tuesday, and the United States urged its citizens holding both American and Iranian nationalities to leave Iran immediately as demonstrations escalated across the country. Meanwhile, international telephone service to Iran was reportedly restored.
The US State Department said that American citizens in Iran face a high risk of interrogation, arrest, and detention, and advised them to travel overland to neighboring Armenia or Turkey, or to Azerbaijan if necessary.
Mobile phones in Iran began regaining the ability to make international calls after internet service was cut off in recent days. However, the country has remained without internet access since January 8, according to the NGO NetBlocks.
Washington urges its citizens to leave Iran immediately as protests continue.
