The French Football Federation (FFF) has officially announced the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as the new manager of the French national team, succeeding Didier Deschamps.
Deschamps left his post after France's run in the 2016 World Cup, where they lost in the semi-finals and then suffered a defeat to England in the third-place match.
The FFF held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon to announce Zidane's appointment.
This marks Zidane's first coaching role since leaving Real Madrid in 2011. He had been linked with the French national team since then, and the appointment was officially confirmed today.
Zidane's first official match in charge of France will be in September, when they face Turkey and Belgium in the UEFA Nations League group stage.
