The death toll among irregular migrants attempting to reach the Spanish enclave of Ceuta has risen to 71, according to data compiled by Europa Press.
These developments come after thousands of young Moroccans gathered at the border between Morocco and Ceuta on Thursday, with reports indicating that some 49,000 migrants entered the city within 24 hours.
The Spanish government confirmed that more than 37,500 migrants have returned from the Ceuta enclave to Moroccan territory, as part of ongoing efforts and coordination between the two countries to manage the recent influx across the border.
Official sources explained that the return of migrants was facilitated through organized procedures, following the surge in arrivals witnessed in the region in recent days.
