US Vice President J.D. Vance confirmed on Saturday that Iran has informed the United States that it will allow the maximum possible flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, noting that Washington does not trust this pledge until it is proven true.
In a statement to Fox News, Vance said, "The Iranians are suffering and want to end this," emphasizing that "Iran has told us it will not impose transit fees for the Strait of Hormuz."
He added that "the United States is working on a plan to ensure the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz," explaining that the plan includes an Iranian commitment not to fire on transiting vessels.
He continued, "Iran has informed the United States that it will allow the maximum possible flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz," indicating that "Washington does not trust this pledge until it is proven true."
