Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, chaired a meeting of the Air Defense Command on Sunday, in the presence of the Director of the Commander-in-Chief's Office and the Chief of Staff of the Army.
A statement from his media office, received by Iraq Times Agency, indicated that "the meeting discussed a plan to build and develop air defense capabilities and enhance their readiness to ensure the protection of Iraqi airspace and the preservation of sovereignty."
The statement added that "the meeting also discussed contracts signed with foreign companies to equip the Air Defense Command with advanced specialized systems."
Al-Zaidi chairs a meeting of the Air Defense Command to discuss developing its capabilities and protecting Iraqi airspace.
