The Iraqi Ministry of Oil affirmed its commitment to developing refining projects, particularly those focused on producing refined petroleum products to meet domestic demand and reduce imports. The ministry noted that the catalytic cracking project adds 5 million liters of gasoline daily.
Ministry spokesman Salim al-Rikabi stated on Sunday that "the ministry is committed to developing refining projects, especially those focused on producing refined petroleum products, to meet local needs and reduce imports, particularly of gasoline and gas oil."
He added that "among the major projects the ministry has prioritized is the catalytic cracking (FCC) project at the Basra refinery." He explained that "the project was completed by the Japanese company JGC, which resumed operations after a halt due to the regional situation," according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
A new project in Iraq will add 5 million liters of gasoline per day.
