White House: Trump sets deadline for Hamas to accept Gaza plan
The White House said Thursday that US President Donald Trump will set a deadline for the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to accept an Israeli-backed proposal to cease fighting in Gaza.
The White House did not explicitly indicate whether Trump would enforce the previously set deadline.
Trump said on Tuesday that he would give Hamas three to four days to accept the 20-point plan, which calls on the militant group to disarm, a demand Hamas has previously rejected. A source close to the group said on Wednesday that Hamas was studying the proposal.
