"Our national athletics team won several medals on the first day of the West Asian Championships, which kicked off in the Lebanese capital, Beirut," he added.
He added, "Athlete Hussein Alaa opened Iraq's medal list in the weight throw event, winning a gold medal, while runner Nour Al-Sadreen strengthened our tally with a new gold medal in the 100m race." He noted, "Mustafa Mohsen broke the Iraqi record in the 3,000m race, winning a silver medal in the same event with a time of 8:33. Player Wathiq Salam also won a silver medal in the 100m race."
He emphasized, "Our national team is striving to increase its medal tally at the West Asian Championships."
