The Iraqi Youth Cycling Team won second place in the Arab Road Cycling Championship held in Sulaymaniyah Governorate on Sunday, with the participation of nine Arab teams.
The UAE team won the gold medal in the team time trial event, while the Iraqi team won the silver medal, and the Qatari team came in third with the bronze medal.
The President of the Iraqi Cycling Federation, Ali Hamid, said, "Today, Iraq once again embraces its brothers in Sulaymaniyah Governorate through this important Arab event. The first race, covering a distance of 58 kilometers, took place amidst a distinctive competitive atmosphere."
He added, "The race was held on a new, open, and fully secured road, and all logistical and medical services were provided by the Sulaymaniyah Governorate." He noted that "the organization witnessed great cooperation from service departments and full security coverage to ensure the safety of the athletes."
Hameed emphasized that "the UAE team possesses strong elements and champions at the Asian level, yet our team deservedly achieved second place, and we will continue to work to achieve better results in the rest of the championship."
The youth cycling team won second place in the Arab Championship in Sulaymaniyah.
